June 25, 2021Delta-8 – The Breakdown
As many of you may already know, there are hundreds of unique chemicals in marijuana and hemp plants. Cannabis has shown to not only aid in an array of different situations, but it appeals to diverse groups of people. In the journey to bring natural health, people of every variety have come together for this common cause.
THC is clearly the most popular cannabinoid on the market – closely followed by CBD. But what do you know about delta-8? Let’s break this down and get some answers.
What is Delta-8?
Delta-8 is one of the many sibling cannabinoids that exist alongside THC and CBD. It may come as a shock, but THC is very popularly referred to as “delta-9.” Naturally, delta-8 follows very closely in the footsteps of THC and offers similar benefits without an overpowering psychoactive experience. Many cannabis enthusiasts have comically referred to delta-8 as the cool younger sibling of THC.
Truly, as research continues to advance in the cannabis industry, new and exciting opportunities for cannabinoids, like delta-8, arise every day. The versatility of this plant continues to deliver results to customers efficiently.
Making Delta-8
When it comes to the production of delta-8, the concept is fairly simple. One of the most common practices includes taking CBD isolate and converting it into delta-8. The process relies on some pretty fragile chemical reactions, but CannabisTech has broken down the process beautifully. You can check out their explanation here.
What You Can Expect From Delta-8
It was not just sheer popularity that gave THC (delta-9) the reputation that it has today. When it comes to cannabinoids it all has to do with your Endocannabinoid System – the system that processes anything from a hemp or marijuana plant. The Endocannabinoid System, or ECS, organizes and distributes cannabinoids throughout the body, sending them to locations that need the most assistance.
When processing cannabinoids, the ECS organizes them between the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are mostly mental, assisting with appetite, immunity, pain and stress. CB2 receptors are geared towards physical attributes, like dry skin and your muscles! While some cannabinoids only work through one receptor at a time, THC works through both to truly address universal problems throughout the body. The same stands true for delta-8.
Will Delta-8 Get Me High?
Considering the fact that delta-8 is naturally psychoactive – yes. Customers can expect a feeling similar to that of a traditional marijuana “high.” At the very least, some psychoactive effects will be apparent.
It is important to note that delta-8 THC is more mild than traditional delta-9. While it won’t send customers to the moon and back, it surely won’t go undetected.
Is Delta-8 Legal?
Customers across the country are rightfully asking if delta-8 is federally legal. Or, at least, if it is legal to have it in their hometown. Unfortunately, our home state (Colorado) has recently passed legislation that limits and halts the production and distribution of delta-8 products. When it comes to compliance and legality, our team is always trying to stay ahead of the game and out of the line of fire. For these reasons, Infinite CBD does not have any plans to move forward with products showcasing delta-8.
Although, customers still ask where they are able to purchase delta-8 products. This is when state legislation comes into play – even more so than that of the federal government. You can check here to see if delta-8 is legal to possess and purchase in your state.
When it comes to purchasing products that exist in a gray area of legality, we always recommend looking into your local and state legislations to avoid any and all illegal activity. We know cannabinoid legislation can be tricky to follow, but it is worth finding out what is and isn’t illegal.
