As research continues to expand on cannabis plants, we are learning more and more every day! As many of us already know, there are hundreds of different chemicals within cannabis plants that have shown to help improve the quality of life. These chemicals, known as cannabinoids, are each unique in their own way and offer different uses when focused on individually.
For example, CBD is one of the most versatile of the bunch! That is why Infinite CBD creates handcrafted products made from a single cannabinoid – to showcase the capabilities of individualized cannabinoids. However, some customers believe that when it comes to cannabinoids, the more the merrier. With the entourage effect in mind, customers regularly utilize multiple cannabinoids at once to achieve their personal health goals.
We know how confusing it is to try and keep up with all of these new acronyms meant to stand for different cannabinoids. Take “CBD” as an example once more. This is just a simple acronym for “cannabidiol.” Let’s explore some of the most popular cannabinoids in the bunch to give you a better understanding of what the cannabis plant is capable of!
As we mentioned before, there are over 100 known cannabinoids with in the cannabis plant. Keep in mind, this includes the hemp and marijuana plant – both members of the cannabis family. While each of these plants produces a different amount of cannabinoids, they still produce the same array of cannabinoids. If you are interested in a comprehensive list of every known cannabinoid within the cannabis plant, click here! We won’t be going over all of these today, but it is important to get an idea on where research is headed in regards to the cannabis plant.
All cannabinoids are processed through the Endocannabinoid System within each of us. This system, much like our nervous system, is responsible for regulating our heath to help us reach homeostasis. To learn more about how the Endocannabinoid System works, check out our blog here!
Today, we are going to focus on the most popular cannabinoids in the industry thus far. This will include THC, CBD, CBN, CBG and finally Delta-8 (a THC variant).
Arguably the most popular cannabinoid, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) has been made famous for its ability to address an array of health concerns while providing the psychoactive effects that customers love. This cannabinoid is a crystalline compound that has not only acted as the main active ingredient in marijuana-based products, but it has been utilized in almost every way you can imagine – from gummies to bath bombs.
As you may have guessed, CBD (cannabidiol) is our absolute favorite cannabinoid! Truly versatile in every way imaginable, CBD is virtually tasteless as an isolated cannabinoid and can work through your Endocannabinoid System to assist you with a wide range of health concerns. Our favorite thing about CBD is that it is naturally non psychoactive, meaning that you can still go about your daily activities without disruption – all while enjoying the benefits of the cannabis plant!
In higher quantities, CBN (cannabinol) can be mildly psychoactive. However, it is this mild psychoactive effect that makes this cannabinoid so perfect for those who seek assistance with regulating their sleep schedule! Some customers have called the effects of this cannabinoid “mildly sedative and highly effective.” When paired with other cannabinoids, like CBD, this compound becomes the perfect natural pathway for a deep and effective sleep! Check out our Sleep Meteorites that contain CBN to help you get the rest you deserve.
Perfect for balancing your gut health and comfort, CBG (cannabigerol) is rising in popularity within the cannabis industry. When isolated, CBG is known to be as undetectable as CBD which makes it that much easier to formulate into products that customers love!
This cannabinoid in particular has become increasingly popular within the last two years. Technically, Delta-8 is a genetic sibling to THC. At times, industry experts actually refer to traditional THC as “delta-9.” Delta-8 is found in both cannabis and hemp plants and can produce a psychoactive “high” that customers love. When it comes to the legality of Delta-8, there is a lot of work to be done. Although you can extract this from the hemp plant, the FDA and state regulations around the country have criminalized the distribution of this cannabinoid.
Current research is giving us a fair understanding of the unique capabilities within each cannabinoid. However, we are far from understanding 100% of the cannabis plant. One of the most difficult hurdles throughout this research is navigating the legality of cannabis studies. It will take hundreds if not thousands of patient-based trials to truly begin comprehending each individual chemical. Unfortunately, given the current federal and state level limitations this kind of research is years away.
As always, the Infinite CBD team is happy to share any and all information that we have regarding cannabis and the use of our products. However, it is important to keep in mind that our information and recommendations are not meant to replace that of a medical professional.
