August 2, 2018Why Does Coconut Oil Turn Pink?
Why Does Coconut Oil Turn Pink? – If you’ve purchased any of our pure CBD isolate products, you may have noticed that sometimes they turn pink. Luckily, there’s no need to be alarmed! Coconut oil, an ingredient in many of our products, can turn a beautiful shade of pink. This color change is perfectly natural. That being said, why does coconut oil turn pink?
Why Pink?
Coconut oil is derived from coconuts, in a process that squeezes nutrients and healthy fats from coconut meat. Coconut oil is a medium-chain triglyceride oil, also known as MCT oil. MCT oil is very easy for the body to metabolize, and if taken in the morning, actually jump-starts your metabolism for the day.
Coconut oil, in particular, is a powerful antioxidant. When antioxidants are exposed to different levels of light and oxygen, they can turn pink. Viola! This is why coconut oil turns pink. Through a completely natural and biological process, coconut oil interacts with its environment, which also reveals the high-quality of our coconut oil.
Does it Compromise A Product’s Effectiveness?
No, not at all! Pink coconut oil does not mean a product has “gone bad.” In fact, when coconut oil changes color, it’s a sign to you that high-quality coconut oil is being used. This effect isn’t a restricted only to Infinite CBD products – many items containing coconut oil, like coconut water, also turn pink.
In short, the color change does not compromise a product’s effectiveness.
Infinite CBD Chooses Coconut Oil
Studies show that MCT oil promotes fat and calorie burning, which can help with weight loss and increased energy. In fact, coconut oil makes CBD more bioavailable, which means your body can process, metabolize, and use CBD to its utmost potential.
In addition to helping boost metabolism and increase CBD delivery, we use coconut oil for other reasons too. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer. It helps to open and clean your skin’s pores, revitalizes damaged hair, and even acts as a natural antibacterial.
There are so many reasons why Infinite CBD chooses coconut oil as a base for many of our CBD isolate products.
Pink is Natural – No Big Deal!
Good news! Coconut oil can turn pink, and it’s no big deal. Rather than fretting about the gorgeous tone of your CBD isolate products, you can rest easy and know you’re consuming top-notch CBD and coconut oil!

Hi David,
Thank you for your inquiry about your product changing color. Due to the oxidation process, our coconut oil based products can change color. This is a common reaction which does not change the integrity of the product nor the potency of the CBD. In addition, if you were to browse your local grocery store, many coconut based products are pink. The color will change depending how much oxygen it is exposed to. The 250mg bottle may have been exposed less to oxygen than the 1,000mg bottle. If you have any further questions regarding the color change of your product, please reach out!
How come when the MG of CBD is smaller ie. 250mg it only turns light pink, But in a 1000mg it turns a much darker pink.
Can you explain this to me?
Thank you
Lee,
The more light that hits the bottle the darker the oil will get. I’ve had the oil in direct sunlight (testing) and about the 12th day, it starts to turn from a pink to a red/brown color than to a brown color. And this isn’t just with Infinites products you can buy coconut water, pour it into a glass and watch it change color over the next few days. If you are worried about the color I would recommend keeping it in the fridge after each use. Usually, that will slow down the color change.

Hi Lydia,
Thank you for your inquiry! The color change of coconut oil is perfectly natural and shouldn’t harm your skin and hair. The pink color will not compromise the effectiveness of the oil. We hope you find this information to be helpful! Thank you for your interest in our Blog!
