About Topical CBD Application; Can CBD Oil Be Topically Rubbed onto Your Skin?

Medical, Therapeutic, and Daily Potential Benefits of Cannabidiol Products

Overall, Cannabidiol can be derived from the whole cannabis plant as well as industrial hemp. Despite how CBD is extracted, it contains numerous potential medicinal and therapeutic benefits. A handful of these benefits include but are not limited to the following: analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, anti-bacterial, anti-epileptic, anti-anxiety, and anti-depressant properties. Another huge benefit of CBD is the fact that it’s non-psychoactive, and it won’t deliver any cognitive impairing effects. Also, various CBD products can be used nearly anywhere since they don’t have an odor of weed nor do they get people high. Therefore, individuals can carry on with their day and improve their well-being at the same time.

In addition, different medical conditions and diseases can result in varying levels of pain and discomfort. Fortunately, topical CBD products are useful in many ways. When severe pain occurs, it may be beneficial to use topical CBD oil products for localized relief. Besides the convenience of using topical CBD oil products, this particular method provides users with relief in specific areas of the body. It’s also important for CBD beginners to know that after consuming CBD oil, this cannabinoid won’t show up on drug tests.

The Purposes of Topical CBD Oil Products

Although there are different cannabis and CBD delivery methods available, topically administered products can be very helpful. For instance, if you suffer from arthritis, MS, migraines, and/or muscle soreness, the topical usage of CBD can deliver local application, where it’s needed most. A few examples of topical CBD products that are gaining worldwide attention and usage include lotions, creams, salves, gels, balms, and oils. Sometimes, topical CBD products are mixed with other ingredients like essential oils and herbs for extra pain alleviation. Generally, though, topical CBD lotions and salves have shown to be beneficial pain-relievers since they’re applied to certain body parts.

One main reason why people are attracted to this delivery method is because it provides more focused and fast-acting. Many people apply CBD oil onto their joints to relieve arthritis-causing pain, inflammation, and/or muscle spasms. Whereas, others topically apply CBD oil on their forehead and temples due to migraine pain. You can even topically apply CBD oil onto your abdomen area to relieve cramps or stomach pain.

Additional Reasons for Topical CBD Usage

Not only is CBD natural and effective, it’s not addictive nor is it dangerous unlike different pharmaceutical medications. Why else do people use topical CBD products though? One reason is because relief is experienced right away instead of having to wait for the effects to kick in like other delivery methods. When an individual consumes an infused edible or capsule, they must wait a while before they feel its effects. However, this is not the case with topical CBD products. Once you apply the product to your skin, it’ll soak into your pores, and you’ll feel relief right away.

Why CBD is Present in Almost All Topical Products

Aside from the benefits that come from topical CBD products, how do they work exactly? It’s important to understand that topical products are filled with active cannabinoids. From here, they seep into the body’s skin. Then, different cannabinoids bind to our body’s CB2 receptors, which are located near the skin. Because of this binding, the body’s endocannabinoid system (which we all have) gets activated. In most instances, CBD is the main cannabinoid used in topical products. This is the case because it has been found that CBD is more absorbent to the skin than other cannabinoids.

Also, it’s believed by researchers that CBD can stimulate the body’s CB2 receptors more easily as compared to other cannabinoids. For this reason and several more, this explains why CBD is present in most topical products within the cannabis industry. Additionally, since topical CBD products are applied onto the skin, they don’t enter the bloodstream. But rather, topical products disrupt the skin and muscular barrier to deliver localized pain reduction. To avoid cannabinoids seeping into your bloodstream, topical CBD oil products are one way to go.

According to one study that was published by Neurotherapeutics, CBD is very different than other cannabinoids. Specifically, CBD doesn’t have as much of an impact on the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) as compared to other cannabinoids. Instead, CBD activates other compounds within the ECS. Ultimately, Cannabidiol prevents the body from soaking up anandamide. For those who don’t know, anandamide is a compound that controls pain. When there’s a heightened amount of anandamide in the bloodstream, it can lessen the level of pain one experiences.

Ideal Topical CBD Products to Try: Lotions, Creams, & Salves

Moreover, regardless of how CBD is derived, there are various extraction methods available. These methods work to extract CBD from the designated source one wants. From here, the extracted CBD is added to a carrier oil otherwise referred to as CBD oil. Depending on where you purchase CBD oil, the strength and concentration of it will vary. For CBD oil beginners, it’s suggested to start small and slowly work your way up with doses. It’s also essential to choose the appropriate delivery method based your personal situation.

Depending on what you use CBD oil for, you may or may not experience side effects. However, the positives of CBD usage will likely outweigh the negatives. After CBD usage, most people feel physically relaxed, mellow, and a sense of relief with a mood boost.

Currently, there are numerous topical CBD oil products on the market, and some of them contain essential oils. A few examples of commonly-used essential oils include eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, and lemon. Generally, the efficacy of topical CBD products varies based on the dosage and how concentrated they are. Overall, though, topical CBD oil products can deliver numerous medical and therapeutic benefits that can positively improve one’s life.

  3. I’ve been using CBD topically for joint pain in my ankle for a little over a year. I just had it fused a little under a month ago and have been using it to keep my skin from drying out and to try and help alleviate some of the discomfort. I’ve found it helps most on my toes. The salve has been providing relief to a lot of the aching and pins and needles feelings I’ve been experiencing.
I didn’t know the topical could help with cramps and things of that sort. I am going to have to give it a try.
