Intro: The Infinite Guide To CBD

Infinite Guide to CBD

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is growing increasingly popular amongst the general population for good reasons too. CBD is helping people worldwide combat cancer, reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression, minimize pain and inflammation, heal skin diseases like psoriasis and eczema, and help fight addiction. But the benefits for CBD don’t stop there. As research and knowledge develops more and more around CBD and our endocannabinoid system, we are constantly learning more about how CBD works with the body and the effects it can have.

CBD is one of 113 phytocannabinoid compounds found within the cannabis plant; hemp and medical marijuana. However, CBD does not produce any state of intoxication or euphoria for the user unlike tetrahydrocannabinol, more commonly known as THC, which does. CBD acts on specific receptors within the body and is therefore vital for taking the therapeutic benefits into account. On these particular receptors, CBD triggers our internal body systems to restore back to homeostasis.

While the evidence continues to emerge, clinical studies are necessary to observe and document the benefits of CBD for medical conditions and disorders.  In research previously, specifically in both cell cultures and animal models, CBD has been shown to be useful therapeutically in several medication classes such as; anti-seizure, antioxidant, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-tumor, antipsychotic, and anti-anxiety.

In conclusion, while similar in the molecular form to THC, the cannabinoid derivative CBD produces far more positive pharmacological responses without changes noted in an individual’s mental capacity. Further clinical trials and research continue to be warranted as positive outcomes continue to surface. Hopefully, new research will justify much needed clinical studies to be able to showcase the benefits and therapeutic effects to gain approval from the Food and Drug Administration, FDA.
