Alternative medicines, natural remedies, and homeopathic supplements have grown in popularity over the years. Nowadays, though, more people are prioritizing their health and well-being. This has led to people searching for natural medicines like cannabis, hemp, and Cannabidiol (CBD). To meet the increasing demand for CBD, many infused products are sold in different independent shops as well as convenience and online stores. Very recently, though, Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy took a step in a progressive direction. Keep reading to find out the most recent CBD news regarding Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy’s involvement in the CBD industry.
Recently, CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens revealed that they will sell certain CBD-based products in select stores. What kind of products will these businesses carry though? CVS Pharmacy in particular has started selling hemp-derived topical products including infused sprays, creams, and roll-ons. These products are sold in over 100 hundred stores across eight U.S. states. The eight states include California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
In addition, this variety of CBD products are marketed as over-the-counter medicinal products. They are also promoted as an alternative method of medicinal relief. Also, not long ago, CVS Pharmacy partnered up with Eurofins. Eurofins is a third-party laboratory that will test all products before they are placed on store shelves. After CVS Pharmacy made their announcement about selling select CBD products in March, Walgreens followed closely behind.
What other CBD news is happening? Well, Walgreens—a widely-known chain drugstore decided to dip into the CBD industry. This company understands how much CBD products are in demand. Therefore, they are taking steps to compete against other drugstores by selling various infused CBD products.
Furthermore, Walgreens will soon offer CBD-infused sprays, patches, and creams. These products will be sold in 1,500 stores across nine U.S. states. Thus far, Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy made it clear that they will not sell CBD dietary supplements or CBD infused foods yet. One of Walgreens’s main intentions is to see which products consumers are interested in. From there, Walgreens will make necessary adjustments to accommodate the wants and needs of their customers.
Overall, CBD news stories continue to evolve and reveal different findings that may benefit consumers. Since the demand for CBD products keeps increasing, other businesses want to get involved. Besides Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid will soon offer more CBD products in several U.S. states.
So far, Rite Aid has been testing the sale of a few CBD products over the past few months in their Washington and Oregon stores. Rite Aid’s primary goal is to understand more about the sale of certain CBD products. Before Rite Aid starts selling topical CBD lotions, balms, and creams nationwide, they want to conduct more market research.
With time, Rite Aid will start offering CBD-infused products in many other locations. For now, though, they are testing the waters by selling select CBD products in their Oregon and Washington stores. Stay tuned to find out more CBD news and when this business will begin offering CBD products in other U.S. states.
