How do you define Wellness? The world is crazy right now. When our lives become hectic, we tend to put ourselves last. That is obviously not the best for our own well-being. In order to reach peak performance and health we need to be able to address our wellness. Merriam-Webster defines Wellness as, “the quality or state of being in good health especially as an actively sought goal.” That second part of the definition is super important. Having a goal is probably the most significant step in creating an overall healthy lifestyle. Goals sometimes aren’t fun. We know this. However, we also know that no one is perfect. We must do everything possible to reach that goal while knowing that we will have setbacks along the way. That’s not to say we should excuse our mistakes but we have to learn from them. So how do we bring wellness into our own lives? Here are a few tips.
- Goal – As stated above, give yourself a goal. Make sure to measure benchmarks and create a journal to let yourself know how you feel emotionally and physically.
- Everyone is different – We spend our days scrolling through social media seeing influencers for better or for worse. Realize that just because someone looks or acts a certain way, that does not mean you need to! Get rid of ridiculously high expectations and start small.
- Don’t forget about your mental health! – When people try to better themselves a lot of times we start physically. This totally works and endorphins from exercising will definitely make you happier. That being said, you also have to be in a good place mentally to start this process. Wellness is about our health as a whole, try not to forget about where your head is during your wellness process.
